Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Missouri
January 31, 2023 | by BMI Staff
As a Missouri-based business, we absolutely LOVE exploring our state! And what better day is there to find a new adventure with the one you love than on Valentine’s Day? There are so many romantic spots in our beautiful state to explore with your boo. Check out our recommendations below!
Excelsior Springs, Missouri
Located just 40 minutes Northeast of Kansas City, this dreamy town is home to The Elms Resort and Spa. Whisk your loved one away to this luxurious and idyllic location to enjoy all of the romantic amenities, along with a bit of history. In the 1920s, the Elms was a speakeasy that was frequently visited by Al Capone. In 1948, Harry S. Truman was staying at the Elms as he awaited the results of his election. Excelsior Springs is also home to Hall of Waters–featuring the world’s longest water bar inside a two-story solarium, the Excelsior Springs Museum and Superior Well Pavilion.
St. Charles, Missouri
Located 30 minutes Northwest of St. Louis is a perfect destination for your Valentine’s getaway. Of all of the towns in Missouri, this one is one of the most popular for destination weddings. The town itself is a romantic destination, complete with walking tours of its preserved brick roads, trolley rides, bed and breakfasts, and quaint boutiques. While in the area, make sure to check out the St. Charles Historic District and shop on Main Street, walk through the dreamy and historic Frontier Park and Katy Trail State Park, and peruse the growing number of art galleries in the less touristy Frenchtown Historic District.
St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis is home to both a national historic landmark and the oldest botanical garden in the United States–the Missouri Botanical Garden. With an impressive 12 gardens and the largest Japanese garden in North America, strolling hand in hand with your love will be more romantic than ever before. While in town, there are endless opportunities for romance, but some of our favorites include the 200-foot tall St. Louis Ferris Wheel, the St. Louis Aquarium, the Grand Center Arts District, the Fabulous Fox Theater, and of course, the Gateway Arch. For a romantic place to stay, consider the Fleur-de-Lys Mansion, which has been routinely named the best bed and breakfast in the city.
Dora, Missouri
Just under two hours Southeast of Springfield, Dora is a little town with great destinations for couples! Stay in the tucked-away Treehouse Cabins at River of Life Farms and enjoy the beauty of the Ozarks in so many fun and romantic ways. Visit the Mark Twain National Forest or the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum. Just 30 minutes down the road, in West Plains, you’ll find some of the best antique shops in the country!
Traveling is always a nice detox from everyday life, especially to celebrate the love in your life. We hope you take a weekend near Valentine’s Day to explore our home state and enjoy some of the world’s marvels located right in our backyard!
